June gloom. analog TV has ended.
we now have to use digital tv tuners and converters.
I singed for the DTV gov rebate last FEB2008 and
got my around june2008 and i went out and bought the worst DTV
MAgNAVOX brand DTV converters boxes at walmart.
The MAGNAVOX brand DTV converters boxes at walmart suck.
How do i know this today i had to help some old relatives with their DTV digital tv converters "Saturday, June 13, 2009"
They had different brand of digital tv converters some brands were good and some brands were bad.
the GE brand was real bad i did not like it at all.
The remote was ok but the tuner sucked bad.
you can not press 11 and get 11-1 dtv.
you allways have to press the dash-1 to get your channels other than that all the channels came in.
*GE tuner is all so slow and clunky gui.
my Magnavox tuner was average but slow and the remote sucked.
the tuner is slow to change channels.

Radio shack boxes. " genneric brand?"
I can't remember the brand. But i know they were bought at
Radio-shack because i saw the flyer and gave it to my relitives and told them to go get that with your rebate.
because the walmart magnavox brand has a bad remote.

for them and i liked the radio-shack boxes the best.

the tuners are black thats all i remember.

they change channles fast and have a volume control button for the digital audio . my magnavox
dose not have a audio controler.

They also had the best looking EPG programing guid.
But the menu-gui setup was kind of a mess this is why i had to set the boxes up for my elderly relatives.
I had to drive 40min by freeway to reach my older reletives
and help them with their TV's.
When the analog signal was cut - they could not figure out how to hook up the DTV converters.
Well my elderly relative are in their late 70's and 80's
They could not figure out how to use the dtv tunners.
most of the dtv tunners i saw today had verry bad menu-setups that i don't think most elderly people will understand how to use. They should not have to use a menu-setup
There should be a scan button bult into the boxes them selfs with a big red removable sticker on them
that say plug everthing and the press me to SCAN for avalible channles.
or something like
1. plug everthing in.
2. turn TV-set to channle "4" or "3"
3. remove sticker.
4. press red button to scan for avalible DIGITAL TV singnals .
having a menu-setup is a little to much trouble
for some elderly people to get when they were use to their TV just working.
MAKE the stuff more easy please.

even the new digital tv with built in astc-tuners are not verry easy to use for elderly folks.
I had to set one of those up today as well.
" side not the built-in atsc-digital-tunner was kind of slow." __I don't like slow___ it made channle surfing a pain in the ass. So before you buy a new digital Tv make shure you try it out first to see if it's slow are not.
